Dear Odd Fellows and Pledges,
I am saddened to pass along the news – just received moments ago – that Don Smith has died. Don was a great Odd Fellow. He served as Grand Master of California in his 20’s and then was elected Sovereign Grand Master in his early 30’s – a remarkable achievement. He was active in the Order his entire life. Don was a decent and honorable man, and was a great inspiration to me.
Many of us first met Don in 2008 when he and some members of his Lodge visited the Davis Lodge for one of our breakfast meetings. He left delighted and inspired at the new approach to Odd Fellowship and the energy and community activity displayed by our Lodge.
Don was a great supporter of our Lodge and the progressive and modern approach to our fraternity. He was my friend and a friend of our Lodge.
I will miss him.
Rest in peace.

TO ALL:
It is with deep sadness that I report the passing of Donald R Smith, PSGM, PGM and Home Board Director Emeritus.
He passed peacefully while sleeping with his family present.
There are no plans at this moment for any service – arrangements will be forthcoming.
This is a sad for Odd Fellowship, especially in California.
