Mark your calendars!
Friday, October 18, starting at 7 p.m. The Odd Fellows Wine Club meets again, this time at the home of Kerry Daane Loux in Davis.
The Odd Fellows Wine Club is open only to Odd Fellows, Pledges, and guests of Members and Pledges. It is an informal gathering to sample and enjoy wines, meeting once each month at the homes of various Members and Pledges. No RSVP needed – just come on by on October 18.
On October 18, Kerry would like to feature a country, rather than a varietal. Here are Kerry’s thoughts:
“I think I would like to have a country rather than a wine varietal choice, so I’d like to have people bring wine and appetizers from Spain, if they’d like. Anything goes. I’ve checked a bit, and there are many varietals I am not familiar with, as well as regular choices that I’ve seen, so there is a wide range.
Here’s a little bit of info from a wine friend:
Spanish White Varietals
- Verdelho
- Garnacha Blanc
- Albarino
- Godello
Spanish Red Varietals
- Rioja (region)
- Ribera del Duero (region)
- Tempranillo
- Garnacha
- Graciano
Of course there are endless sources for tapas recipes (and it’s only for those who want to go with the theme…any type of tasty appetizer would be fine), but here’s a sample website for tapas:
Click on “Liz’s Kitchen” for tapas recipes. She has some really interesting things.”
So, please plan to come by Kerry’s home for the Odd Fellows Wine Club. Bring a wine of Spain, and an appetizer to share (bring tapas if you wish – but any appetizer is welcome). … You do NOT have to be a wine expert to come to the Odd Fellows Wine Club. It’s a very informal time to socialize and sample wine and munchies. The Odd Fellows Wine Club is organized by Elysa Hillis, under the auspices of the Good Fellowship Committee.
