The June 4th Thursday Live! show, brought to you by the Davis Odd Fellows, features some of the best American Roots music you’ll hear outside of America’s heartland. It’s all happening at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall located at 415 2nd Street. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the music starts at 7:30 p.m.
Joe Craven is one of the best known and most talented musicians in Northern California. He’s put together a brand new band and Thursday Live! is thrilled to have them.
JOE CRAVEN AND THE SOMETIMERS, featuring Bruce MacMillan (guitars) and Jonathan Stoyanoff(bass), is a brand new trio that adheres to a “no genre left behind” policy celebrating POP music (as in “Pursuit of Possibility”). Joe Craven is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist who has played around the world (including Carnage Hall) and alongside Jerry Garcia, David Lindley Alison Brown and David Grisman. Jonathan Stoyanoff attended Berkelee College of Music and has shared the bill with B.B. King, Dave Mason, the Isley Brothers and others. Bruce MacMillan has played at the Strawberry and High Sierra Music Festivals and adds impressive skills on acoustic guitar, Dobro and lap steel.
BISCUITS AND HONEY: Biscuits and Honey brings outstanding local musicians together to perform Americana music that is rooted in the unique country harmonies and instrumental virtuosity that is characteristic of the best of that tradition. The band features Diana Craig (Frankie & the Fabletones, !Akimbo, Voice of the Wood), Ron Cowden (Zorelli, Elvis and the E-Men, Waiting for Bruce), Kurt Roggli (!Akimbo, Waiting for Bruce, Me & Him), and Florie Brown (Golden Bough).
Thursday Live! is a continuing series of free shows always on the first Thursday of the month at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall. The shows are free but donations are graciously accepted. All donations go directly to the musicians. These shows are open for all ages. For more information please contact Juelie Roggli at juelrog@gmail.com.
