Dear Dedicated Members for Change,

Our Dedicated Members for Change (DMC) email matrix includes hundreds of members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in virtually every state of the USA and every province of Canada, along with many members from countries around the world. Thank you for being members of “Dedicated Members for Change.” We formed in 2010 as a group of fraternal members concerned about the steady decline in our membership over the years, and as a group committed to stopping the decline and kick-starting an increase in membership. We believe Odd Fellowship has an important role to play in society today and tomorrow.

We value each of you. Today’s newsletter is focused on California members and Lodges. Now that the Covid pandemic is essentially in our rear-view mirrors, we want to bring back the DMC Reception at California 2024 Sessions, coming up this May. So we have planned a DMC Reception for Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Peppermill in Reno, running from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Reception will take place in The EDGE Nightclub at the Peppermill – and The EDGE Nightclub is reserved just for us. The Reception is only open to all Odd Fellows and Rebekahs who are registered for Sessions, and it is FREE OF CHARGE. There is no admission charge. Just come to the reception and enjoy. To enter the Reception, you will simply need to show your registration credentials as a delegate or a visitor.

There will be two or three stations of heavy hors d’ouevres, some members are bringing guitars for some musical fun, and we will hear brief comments by our outgoing Grand Master Fred Dolling, our incoming Grand Master Dave Reed, and our incoming Deputy Grand Master Rita Cooper. We will also have our own no-host bar available just for the attendees at our Reception. Attire is comfortable and casual (logo shirts from your Lodge are welcome). No RSVP is needed. Just come on by and have a good time with your fraternal brothers and sisters. The specific location of the Reception at the hotel will be provided in the program and advance proceedings.

The Reception is coming up in three months. At this time, we are soliciting Odd Fellow Lodges that wish to underwrite and sponsor this Reception (so that attendees will incur no cost to attend). If your Lodge would like to be a Sponsor, please write to me at daverose@jps.net. Your Lodge will be recognized and publicly thanked! So far, the following Lodges are Sponsors:

Davis Lodge #169 $500 Sponsor
Franco-American Lodge #207 $500 Sponsor
Oceanside Lodge #346 $500 Sponsor
Yerba-Buena Lodge #15 $100 Sponsor

We know several other Lodges that will be contributing funds and will join this list. Your sponsor checks should be made payable to “Grand Lodge of California” and mailed to:
