Dear Dedicated Members for Change,

DMC was formed in 2010 with one – and only one – purpose in mind:  We focus on providing helpful advice on how to increase membership.  We have published an electronic DMC Newsletter for close to 15 years now.   There are hundreds of Odd Fellows on our email lists, from dozens of jurisdictions in the USA, Canada and around the world.   Thousands of members have read our DMC Newsletters.   And I know that our newsletters have assisted many Lodges in growing and thriving.

But the other day, a realization struck me:   We are all Odd Fellows and we are all bound together by a mutual credo that encompasses friendship, love, truth, faith, hope, charity, and universal justice.   We believe in the elevation of the character of all men and women.   And we meet together in Lodges as Brothers and Sisters for mutual support, and hopefully, good times.

And yet, every single Lodge is unique.

Understanding that uniqueness, it occurred to me that the messages we have been disseminating have been very general – meant to assist all.  I realized that the messages may be more helpful if they were more specific – that is, targeted to specific Lodges that might need membership help.  In this regard, I would like to offer a special service from DMC.   For those members who want specific membership growth advice, targeted to the unique character of their Lodge, I would like to help.   Let me first give you my “membership credentials”:   I have served as a Noble Grand, as a Grand Master, as a Grand Patriarch, and as a Department Commander of the Patriarchs Militant.   In my 20 years as an Odd Fellow, I have personally sponsored over 150 new members into the Order.   When I joined my Lodge, we had about 30 members; today we have over 370 members, and we have had a net growth in members year-after-year for 20 years.   I serve as Membership Chair for my Grand Lodge and have served as Membership Chair of my Lodge for almost two decades.   I know what it takes to grow an Odd Fellows Lodge.

So here is my offer.    For those of you who WANT to grow your Lodge, I will offer my personal assistance and advice.   All I need from you is honest answers to the following 7 questions:

1.  What are the 5 greatest strengths of your Lodge?

2.  What are the 5 greatest weaknesses of your Lodge?

3.  What is the current number of dues-paying members in your Lodge?

4.  How many new members has your Lodge initiated in the past two years?

5.  To the best of your ability, what do you believe is the average age of your Lodge members?

6.  Does your Lodge have any members under the age of 65, and if so, how many?

7.  Does your Lodge organize and sponsor at least one community project, and if so, what is it?

If interested, drop me an email at daverose@jps.net with your request for assistance, and your answers to the 7 questions.
