The Davis Odd Fellows Lodge has announced scholarships for three Davis High School graduates. The scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to two DHS Seniors who are college-bound and one DHS alumna who has been accepted to a graduate school.
“We are delighted to continue our Lodge’s tradition of awarding scholarships to deserving Odd Fellows and their children and grandchildren,” said Scholarship Committee Chair Sharla Cheney.
Receiving scholarships are: Harrison Allen-Sutter who is going to the University of Oregon, Hannah Cole-Leathers who will be attending the University of San Francisco, and Ashley Hillis who will be attending graduate school at the University of Southern California.
Scholarship checks will be presented to the three recipients at the regular meeting of the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge, 6:30 p.m. on May 22. The Odd Fellows Lodge Hall is located in Downtown Davis at 415 Second Street.
The Davis Odd Fellows Lodge is part of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, an international fraternal order open to men and women 16 years of age and older. The Odd Fellows are known as the “three-link fraternity” based on the fraternal symbol of three interlocking links which stand for “friendship, love and truth”. The Davis Lodge was chartered in 1870 and is the oldest continually operating entity in the city limits of Davis. Currently, the Lodge has 188 members, with 36 applicants for membership. Lodge members are very active in Davis and Yolo County in support of charitable and community works.
