Mark your calendars for the first annual “Davis Chocolate Festival”, presented and hosted by our Lodge on Sunday, November 6, 2016. The Fest will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on both floors of the Lodge Hall. It’s going to be all things chocolate, all the time. Plan to bring your family, friends, neighbors to this family-friendly event. The price of admission is a mere $5. Tickets are available for advance purchase at Avid Reader Active in Downtown Davis and at Common Grounds in South Davis. I will also have tickets available for you to purchase at the Lodge meeting this Wednesday evening.

The Chocolate Festival will be a three-ring circus of chocolate. There will be things to do, see, experience and try on both floors of the Lodge. A program will be available so you don’t miss anything. The Upper Hall will feature live chocolate music, chocolate poetry, lectures about the history and the making of chocolate. The Lower Hall will feature cupcake decorating and candy-making demonstrations, plus chocolate tasting. In addition, there will be a light chocolate themed dinner available in the Lower Hall for those who wish to purchase it – chicken mole over rice for $12. Both Upper Hall and Lower Hall bars will be open with chocolate themed drinks available for purchase for the adults, including chocolate martinis and a chocolate-themed beer provided by our Zymurgy Committee. There will be a silent auction table with wonderful gifts, and also a bake sale table.

The Upper Hall will also feature tables for chocolate vendors who will display their wares, also available for purchase. The following TEN vendors will have their chocolate specialties on display, and many will provide free samples:

Davis Creamery
See’s Candy
Dandelion Chocolate Company
The Candy House of Davis
Vevey Confections
Davis Food Coop
Claudia Marie
The Lodge Catering
Julie Cross, Private Chef
Newsbeat

Mishka’s Cafe will provide free coffee and hot chocolate for the guests of the Fest.

A chocolate chip cookie bake-off will be featured in the Upper Hall, judged by Mayor Robb Davis, local best-selling author John Lescroart, and local columnist Shelly Dunning.

I wish to thank the following sponsors who have all contributed so that we can keep the cost of the event very low: Tim Ainsworth, Dawn Coder, Sherry and Ton Pruitt, Lea and Dave Rosenberg, Sue Treadwell, Joyce Trujillo.
