Dear Odd Fellow Wine Tasters and Travelers!DavisOddFellowsWineTour04

This is the second notice for the trip on April 26.

Back by popular demand, the Good Fellowship Committee of the Davis Lodge is organizing another trip to the Amador County wine country. This e-mail is the first notice for the trip which is open to Members of the Lodge, Pledges, Family and Friends of Members and Pledges – so long as seats are available on the bus. This is an adults-only trip. The date of this trip is Sunday, April 26.

We have reserved a luxury bus (with restroom), and we will visit three family-owned vineyards and wineries. They make some decent wines in Amador County, including their famous Zinfandel, Primativo, Barbera, Syrah and others. The Amador County scenery and countryside is lovely. We will also supply a nice picnic lunch for you to enjoy during one of the winery stops on the trip.

We have made arrangements with Coach USA to pick us up in Davis. You don’t have to drive – you just sit back and enjoy the ride and the wines.

We will visit three wineries during this trip to sample wines. The three chosen wineries are:

  • Cooper Vineyards: Distringuished for their Petite Sirah, Temperanillo, Primativo, Zinfandel, Syrah, Barbera, Roussanne, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio.
  • Terra d’Oro: Well-known for their Zinfandel, Barbera, Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Moscato.
  • Karmere Vineyards and Winery: Featuring Zinfandel, Syrah, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Viognier, and Primativo.

We can typically get a discount for wines that you decide to purchase. We will have bottled water and snacks available on the bus and plenty of storage room for you if you purchase wine.

Expect the much-anticipated wine quiz while on the bus, complete with prizes for the winners. (I know that most of you go on this trip just for the wine quiz, so I did not want to disappoint.)

There is limited seating on the bus, so we ask you to RSVP as soon as you can – it’s first come, first served, and we typically sell out the bus. The wine trip (complete with lunch) will cost $30 per person, a pretty remarkable bargain. If you wish to attend, please RSVP in response to this e-mail and tell me the names of the members in your party. And mail your check for $30 per person (payable to “Davis Lodge” – and put “Amador Wine Trip” in the memo line of the check) to the following address: Dave Rosenberg, Odd Fellows Lodge, 415 2nd Street, Davis CA 95616. No seats will be reserved until your check has been received.

I want to thank Rich Halen for making arrangements with all the wineries for this trip!

Dave Rosenberg
